Sunstone
Oregon Sunstone is unique in the world
for the presence of copper Schiller as a phenomenon
Oregon Sunstone is a Labradorite Feldspar, with Schiller produced from the presence of copper mingling with molten gem material.
The color palette ranges from pale yellow, to peach, all hues of orange, to red-orange, as well as light to dark teal green and Rootbeer brown.
These photos show another way that the presence of copper manifests itself - as "glitter" called Schiller.
This can occur as spots, streaks or a general plane of shimmer seen all across the surface of a faceted gem.
(Local American Indian tribes use Sunstone in their Medicine Wheel ceremonies due to its dual anti-inflammatory properties.)
